Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
OUR MINISTRY FACILITATORS
" To be a Christ-centred family that loves and serves one another with joy and humility "
* sponsors
Confirmed Catholics and active members of the parish community who accompany catechumens and candidates during the period of Catechumenate. Sponsors need not be very knowledgeable about doctrine but need to share with catechumens what it means to be Christians in ordinary life.
* breakers
Ordinary parishioners who want to help catechumens reflect deeper on the significance of the liturgy of the word for their lives. Facilitators guide half-hour scripture sharing lessons on Sundays for catechumens after they hear the word of God proclaimed during the liturgy and are sent from the church (Breaking of Word).
logistic ministers
This very important area requires a wide range of talents from organising events, administration to art and craft, food, computer work, audio-visual etc. Logistic ministers thus are the crucial group who ensure that all material needs are taken care of for the smooth running of RCIA sessions.
* catechists
People who are equipped with some background in adult learning and are committed to helping catechumens connect Christian faith with daily living. Catechists are those who share in the priests' work of imparting the teachings of Christ and the Church.
prayer ministers
Called to facilitate full and rich celebrations of the initiation rites: liturgists, retreat planners, lectors, cantors, choristers, musicians and praise and worship leaders. if you are already serving the parish as a liturgy minister, find out how you can contribute to the RCIA.
hospitality ministers
Blessed with a friendly personality? Come, provide a warm welcome to inquirers and catechumens by familiarising them with the church building, introducing them to other churchgoers - generally making new comers feel at home.
